Forgotten World Adventures is centrally located on the North Island of New Zealand, its base being the town of Taumarunui, in the heart of the King Country.
We are an hour from the Waitomo Caves, 90 minutes from Taupō and 40 minutes from Mt Ruapehu and shuttle services for the Tongariro Crossing. If you're unsure about your journey, just get in touch and we'll be able to advise on expected driving times.
This map illustrates the remote, mysterious and wonderfully scenic region in which Forgotten World Adventures operates its experiences throughout the Forgotten World and the surrounding area. Nestled between Mount Ruapehu to the east and Mount Taranaki to the west, the Stratford-Okahukura Line runs parallel to New Zealand's oldest heritage trail, State Highway 43, better known as the Forgotten World Highway. The 148km long road between Taumarunui and Stratford threads through pristine sub-tropical rainforests, unspoiled landscapes and many alluring historical and natural points of interest.
